2021 Earth Day Sale and Spring Update

Here in northern California, the weather is warming up, the trees are green, and the flowers are in bloom! It's the time of year when we start to really enjoy the outdoors again. As we appreciate the gifts of our planet, this week in particular, it is also the time of year when we look to re-affirm our values concerning the environment and sustainability.

On April 22, 1970, Earth Day was established in the US to raise public awareness and concern for the environment and the general state of the planet. 51 years later, we continue to mobilize for Earth on a global scale. While I strive to live eco-consciously every day of the year, Earth Day is when environmentalism is highlighted and promoted to a larger public consciousness. This year, I wanted to involve SEN in a meaningful way by offering gifts to both you and to the planet.

Starting now, my monstera ring pins (both sizes) are 22% off! This pin was created to celebrate one of our most popular house plants today, the monstera deliciosa, originating in tropical rainforests (like many of our other favorite house plants). In appreciation of this beautiful gift of Mother Nature, 22% of ALL sales from the shoppe (not just monstera pins but ALL sales) will be donated to two amazing nonprofits fighting against climate change: Rainforest Trust (working to protect rainforests in places like Bolivia and Ecuador) and One Tree Planted (who plants a tree for each dollar donated all over the world). This Earth Day campaign will run through Thursday April 22 11:59pm PST.

Even if you have no interest in the monstera ring pin, I invite you to check out their websites in the spirit of Earth Day and consider making a donation to their causes. We only have one planet. Let's work together to protect it.

In other news, I know it's been a while since my last product release or update, and I wanted to thank everyone who has supported and been patient with me as I tackle other chapters of my life beyond the shoppe. I wanted to at least let you know that since opening my business in June last year, senshines from all across the US have helped raise $100 for Peninsula Open Space Trust and Sempervirens Fund to date! It may not seem like much, but as a small business owner without much to spare, I am beyond grateful for anyone willing to help me support a cause that is truly close to my heart.

Those funds went to help the recovery efforts of the horrible wildfires that ravaged Northern California in 2020, including the precious redwoods of the peninsula and the Santa Cruz and Diablo mountain ranges. I will continue to support them as wildfire season begins to rear its head again this year.

In my continued efforts to be transparent about my business, I have also updated the Sustainability page to show all of the non-profits that have received donations from the SEN community, including links through which you can find more information about them. I will continue to keep this list updated moving forward as we spread our support in the fight against climate change.

Thank you again for all your support! As always, feel free to reach out to me with anything at all related to SEN at hello@senshoppe.com. Stay safe and take care!

With love and gratitude,

Carol
